The Seige of Vicksburg is known as the turning point of the Civil War. The Confederacy was winning the war up until General Pemberton surrendered to General Grant. The Union took control of the river and basically starved them into surrendering. It actually cut the Confederate army in half, allowing the Union to ultimately win the war.
Interesting fact: It was on July 4, 1863, when they surrendered and the City of Vicksburg did not celebrate the 4th of July for the next 81 years.

Yes but the cops in Vicksburg are corrupt, just like every state in the South. Wake up people! I will never visit there, just because I don’t want to get caught up in the system. They will HELP a fallasleepatthewheel 18-wheeler driver cover up the fact that he crossed a lane of traffic to hit my brother. WTF? Where is the justice in that…tell the truck driver NOT to give insurance information including his name. What is that? FU cops. Until someone calls you out, you will continue to be corrupt and help the bad guy instead of the guy who got hit…the one NOT at fault. Go ahead, Vicksburg Daily News, tell your bullshit story of how the 18-wheeler driver’s skill help avoid a worse crash. DID NOT HAPPEN THAT WAY. COPS FALSIFIED THE ACCIDENT REPORT, NOT EVEN INCLUDING THE DRIVER’S NAME! BULLSHIT COPS!!

You know, when they’re chem-trailing smaller towns like Vicksburg we’re all in trouble.

I was born and lived in Vicksburg until I was 15. At 5:33 you see the opening to the flood wall along the river. When I was a kid, during the flood of 1973 they had the wall closed off but they had a ramp where you could walk up there and see the swollen Old Man River going by.
