I remember when it was like this, and there were more Huns than you can imagine. So different now.

Great old video. Can totally relate to the old 1963 Continental with the suicide doors the old hunters were getting out of. Dad had one just like it and a couple of times we hunted out of it in Nebraska. Other than that the video was way over the top cheesy. Hunter safety way overdramatized by the state. Dad’s rule never point a gun at anybody ever. Use common sense. It is the same idiots who have sanitized the world and taken away all the diving boards. You are not likely to see a phone booth than a diving board today.

Step dad went to Nebraska and both Dakotas for pheasants. They drove an old van like car can’t remember the name in the 1960’s.

They drove from NY west and when they saw a farm they went in..asked…begged and then if they had to slip the farmer fiver and went to hunting.

One place the farmer was suspicious of them due to being "Big city slickers" lol. Even though we lived in the sticks. Anyway he would force them to ride a trailer pulled behind his tractor lol. They’d shoot boxes of shells on pheasants and quail.

Man those were the days. Do that now and you’re locked up lol.

Curt Gowdy and Robert Stack were in my hometown to hunt and film pheasants for ABC’s Wide World of Sprorts. I would love to see that episode again.

My dad, Sanford Gray, filmed and edited this! He did many films for SD Tourism and SD Game Fish and Parks during the 60s and 70s. I hope I run across digital versions of more of them.

Those were the days… to the Wheel Inn early in the morning with Grandpa or dad, and out to the field!

Why can’t we have pheasant like this throughout the USA? It really sucks now. The northeast quadrant will never have real natural clutches of pheasants like we used to.

    Sad really.
