Monster Mississippi River Catfish
In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing for monster catfish in the Mississippi River with my good buddy Capt. Blake. We were using a giant yellowfin tuna carcass for chum to lure these monster catfish towards our boat. For bait, we were using yellowfin tuna, wahoo, cobia, and dolphin (mahi-mahi).

Should have kept that small one, or rigged up a rod for some 20" cats — those small ones are the best eaters. Especially during colder months depending on where you are on the Miss.

I did what the catfish told me.
That wasn’t a monster catfish that broke that 80 pound leader. It was probably a bullshark. We used to catch those all the time in the lower mississippi. Put about 1 foot of wire leader on next time and you’ll see. I’ve caught 6ft bullsharks down there. A big tuna carcass like that is ringing the dinner bell for them.
