Ep. 163: Table Rock Lake | Branson Missouri RV travel camping kayaking

After moving every weekend since mid-May we honestly need a break, so we’re staying on for two full weeks in a lakeside campground at Waters Edge on Table Rock Lake, at the Port of Kimberling outside of the resort town of Branson, Missouri. In this week’s episode of Grand Adventure we’ll explore Branson and its surroundings a bit, but we’ll spend most of our time soaking up the sun and relaxing on the lake, with a little bit of kayaking thrown in, too.

ABOUT US

Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, always filmed in stunning 4K.

We’re based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and dog Zoe are avid boondockers, so you’ll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we’re usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we’re not RV dealers or full-timers — we’re “long-timers” who tend to hit the road for weeks or months at a time, while maintaining a sticks-and-bricks home in Utah.

We’ll provide beautiful travel videos, as well as some tips and insight on trip planning, and equipping and maintaining your RV to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember…life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Pretty area; amazing in Fall when the leaves are changing color.

I live in Branson, although it is pretty, it is an overpriced, and I mean way overpriced!! run down town, that is full of drug addicts and tons of motels that are run down and bed bug, roach infested, owned by certain people who do not put money back into the business. They just take the money..!! It also triple taxes everyone. Branson is a tourist trap and the only thing it has going for it. Is the Ozarks and Table Rock !!

Great drone footage. Moving every week? I would rather stay two weeks. A break is needed. I’m not interested in that touristy stuff either. I prefer the history. Lakeside for $ 20 is awesome. We aren’t Passport members but maybe we should be. Great name for that campground. This town reminds me of Pigeon Forge. The museum was cool. Love historical buildings too. That statue was magical. Awesome view from a chapel. Where is that waterfalls? Beautiful. I love canoeing if there is no chance a motor boat will go near me. The water looks a bit rough? We are lucky to have a built in surge protector. I don’t blame you for staying there for two weeks. You need to do this more often. Alice

You spent how many tens of thousands of dollars on your nice RV and you’re worried about spending a couple of hundred dollars on a surge protector to protect your investment??
    Are you new?

  10. TR Bowlin on December 31, 2020 at 10:45 pm

Totally agree about Branson. Plus 1776 Country Music Blvd is also known as the world’s largest parking lot. I got my only speeding ticket in my life in Branson. Extremely well edited Marc!

We love Branson Mo. And we loved Dolly Parton’s Stampede.

Hi Marc, enjoyed watching you kayak. I haven’t kayaked much outside of Colorado, apart from an Elephant Butte trip a year ago. That place looks like fun, I ought to do it. As far as Branson. I don’t recall seeing that ferris wheel last time I been there, must be new. Last time I came was the year after the tornado, 8 or 9 years ago. There was a chicken restaurant with a large chicken out front, I suppose that isn’t there anymore. That place had pretty good chicken, always went there. Good video.

  23. Jim Whiting on December 31, 2020 at 11:03 pm

We get to Branson at least once per year. After Thanksgiving is always nice when they are gearing up for Christmas. Table Rock State Park has a great campground with full or partial hookups. Great video. Thanks for sharing your adventures!

WOW! Looks like it was an incredibly enjoyable trip! Some really great footage, it felt like I was there with you, I guess I’ll need to add Missouri to the list Just stumbled across your channel and can’t wait to see more. Was this before COVID-19? Hope so as I saw nobody wearing mask which would be deadly for the typical Branson visitor. Overweight and old

    Hi Marc!

We just got back from a week stay in Branson. There is so many things one can do there and we just scratched the surface. We did seventeen things in seven days and are planning to come back in the future.

We rented a boat out of Indian Point and only managed to get to the bridge at Kimberly. We stopped four times for a swim – water was at a perfect temperature.

We spent a good part of the day at Top of the Rock. We rented the golf cart and did the drive. It was pretty cool: lots of waterfalls, bridges and a cave. The museum at the golf course is fantastic! I think it was one of the most extensive, impressive Indian museums that I have seen. There was also a good deal of Civil War era displays in there. We spent a few hours in there and we were pretty hungry by the time we got to the Civil War part. Alas, another time.
The restaurant food was delicious and the view there was beautiful.

We also went to Dogwood Canyon Park and rented bicycles. That was another wonderful time – lots of bridges and waterfalls by way of an easy paved path that runs for three plus miles into Arkansas.

There are many caves in Missouri and Talking Caves was pretty neat. It is pretty vertical, so not so good for those who have walking or going up and down stair issues. There is also Fantastic Caverns and that one is a driving tour.

I see that I have fallen a little behind in Grand Adventure videos so I have a little catching up to do!

Thank you for your work in all this.

    Ram

  27. Charles Moore on December 31, 2020 at 11:05 pm

We need to get there but are usually in too much of a hurry to get to Texas – Not this year! So maybe?

  28. Barry Maddox on December 31, 2020 at 11:05 pm

Hey how was the visable there. We have same set you have and I work remotely. Did you have good signal?

Beautiful and informative video about the area! Vicki and I loved being able to meet up with you guys!

Thanks for the shout out and we hope to see y’all again soon!

Awesome area, we’ve been waiting for this video. We did the same thing and stayed longer once we arrived and saw how great the area was, thanks Marc! FYI, our surge protector is internal(hardwired)and would not be seen from the outside of the rig.

  39. Gary Mann on December 31, 2020 at 11:13 pm

Wow what a place to stay, I would stay an extra week too, just to simply relax, never been to Branson before touristy places like that aren’t our thing, but it looks nice, lodge on top of the rock was really interesting, along with cedar lodge, kayaking looked enjoyable, another great video, thanks Marc

  40. J Barrett on December 31, 2020 at 11:13 pm

Had my rig out the last three days. Great park at casino, winery, mountains and my brothers house . Short trip but a good time. Missed live show today but I’ll be ready next week.

  41. RVing Reenactors on December 31, 2020 at 11:14 pm

Table Rock really is beautiful. I know there’s a federal campground around there we stayed at years ago too. The other side of the dam is Lake Taneycomo, which is the coldest lake in Missouri, as the water is drawn from the bottom of the dam, and is good trout fishing. I was never a fan of Branson, but I do love the lakes down there. Glad you had a good time in our lovely state!

  42. Jackie Pierce on December 31, 2020 at 11:14 pm

I lived in shell knob in the early 70s to late,, I remember Branson one of if not, the first water slide, ate my first Mc Donald there, wasn’t another around, Branson was not much then, we used to dive off of 50 foot bluffs into hundred foot waters, then skinny dip all.night, life was good, oh yeal silver dollar city

  43. Sharon B on December 31, 2020 at 11:14 pm

Lots to do there. And nice paddling there too! I am finally in the mid stages of selling my house! Yeah!! Once gone it’s time to travel. Dog, kayak, some dive gear, cameras, and other essential stuff…oh yes skis too. Have to re-roof the TT, add some solar panels, add on additional essential gear and off I go! May even see you on the road! Another very good video.

I get a camping discount at my state parks by being old. : )

  45. Brown Sugar on December 31, 2020 at 11:20 pm

Loved the video. I’ve been going to Branson since I was little. Table Rock is one of My most favorite places on earth!
And, FYI, the golf cart tour at Top of the Rock IS worth the $$. Silver Dollar City is the most unique amusement park EVER!
Dogwood Canyon is another magical place. PS – there are several beautiful COE campgrounds that are only $10 – $12 per night on Table Rock. Thanks for the report!

  46. Randy Waller on December 31, 2020 at 11:22 pm

Marc… Good morning. Sitting at the job site waiting for the sun to come up. Last night’s premiere was really cool. It was awesome to see Table Rock and Branson again. I need to get back down there. Been a long time.
Monday’s storm was intense. Worst I’ve ever seen in my sixty years. Heavy, heavy rain with crazy lightning. But the wind. 80 to 100 mph. And it lasted for well over an hour. I was driving between jobs when it hit. After the close encounter I had with the trampoline. I decided to pull off the road and wait it out. I did get some pretty good video though. When it finally passed. I couldn’t believe the damage. Trees and power lines down everywhere. Took me over two hours to get home. And I was only about twelve miles from my apartment. When I got there. It looked like a war zone. Every tree in the complex took a hit. And of course, no power. Over 100,000 in Des Moines alone without power.
I went to the storage lot and picked up my RV. So thankful I had a back up plan. Got back home and set up in the parking lot. Fired up the generator. Turned on the A/C and T/V. And moved my food from my apartment into the RV fridge. I think I’m the only one who didn’t lose a bunch of groceries. Needless to say. I was a pretty popular guy in the complex.
As of this morning. Power is starting to come back on around the city. But still out on our end of town. Maybe by tonight. I’m hoping. Life truly is a Grand Adventure.
Can’t wait to see what you’ve been doing around Lake Superior. We used to go diving there quite a lot. I you’re into wreck diving. It’s the best place in the U.S. And the scenery isn’t bad either.
Well the sun is up now. Better get to work. As always, stay safe and well.
    Randy in Des Moines. 👍✌

If you get a chance. Check out Dog Wood Canyon. About 15 minutes south of Kimberling City. Also owned by Johnny Morris.

  48. Dave Russell on December 31, 2020 at 11:25 pm

Hey, not sure when you were there, but I’m sure it was hot, probably not like It was in Moab, anyway we’re a 100 east of there if you’re looking for another place to rest. Thank’s for sharing, oh we ran into rvtv guy Russ at Glen Canyon, that’s me and my cousin husband Rick at the beginning, hopefully you’re enjoying the Ozarks as much as we did your state. Check out Mill Creek campground while you’re still there.
