Maybe I’m missing something here. In Wisconsin, deer hunting is like a state religion, especially the 9 day gun season.
Maybe you have good reasons to, but I don’t see how it’s the least bit sporting to use dogs to hunt deer. Seems like cheating to me. Almost like having a sheep dog heard sheep to me, only to shoot one at close range. It seems cruel. I believe an animal should be respected and dispatched as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Also, in Wisconsin, the calmer the deer the better eating. If peak rut, or running for it’s life, it puts out enzimes and stuff that are proven to taint the meat.
Please tell me why. Maybe I’ll understand. Just like I understand why they let dudes in wheelchairs shoot deer from cars on a local island that people feed the deer the rest of the year. Not really sporting, but it’s necessary, and it give people otherwise unable to, a chance.
At first light it’s like a civil war battle where they line up across from each other. But, when it extremely crippled hunters, some that are legally blind so they have a laser and a spotter, it’s nice that they too have a decent chance to harvest.
I’m disabled myself, but only take advantage of my special permits if I’m having a flair up and am unable to hunt a bit more traditionally, I.E. shooting pheasants out of the ditch from inside the truck in SD. But, if I can walk or hold the gun, I’ll get out and walk the ditch instead.
I used to need a permit to use an Xbow in WI until they made them legal for anyone, and even though I can, I only shoot from the car if I can’t walk without needing two canes or crutches. even then I feel guilty.

Although I bow/rifle hunt here in Texas. I don’t know much about deer hunting with dogs.So I looked it up on tpaw.turns out highly illegal here, up to $4000.0 fine and your equipment can be seized.

I have noticed in some of these hunting videos i watch on utube that some of the hunters do not follow the never run while carrying a loaded firearm . Seems to me like an accident waiting to happen

What a bunch of losers. Only an absolute asshole would shoot at running deer. I can only imagine how much trespassing you and your mutts are doing over the course of one day. Leave it to the degenerates in the dirty south to enjoy this style of “hunting”.

Im a deer hunter, but i dont agree with chasing them like that, the rest of the heard that u dont shoot must get majorly stresed or injured even,, why dont you just run them off a cliff..!!
Well, I have shot a couple of deer being chased by hounds in Oklahoma. In Oklahoma it is illegal, but in the Ozarks, they always let the hounds out on opening day.
I personally have never hunted deer with a firearm let alone dogs. But as long as you are doing it legally, you have the tags, and you made a good shot at the deer then all is good. These people need to stop whining.

Is it legal to hunt while in a vehicle in Florida or to hunt on a road? Either way I wouldn’t call this hunting.
That’s not real close. I once had to step behind a large white pine to let the deer pass. Going mach 7, I still missed it!

We have dog hunting here, just not for deer. Having them chase deer to a pinch point doesn’t feel right, but, I’m used to having to use my own skills, even with my disabled limitations, to bag my deer every year.
Id just a soon bait bears instead of use dogs here too, although dogs are legal.
Venison is night/day better when the deer hasn’t been running scared.
Maybe hunting dogs don’t run them to death, but up here in wolf county, deer are ran to death then killed when they can’t run anymore, all the time. That’s just how wolves hunt.
I understand our laws are different. To explain why folks may make issue, we can’t even touch a parked vehicle while touching a loaded rifle while hunting, unless it with a disabled vehicle permit. (I can only say that for a fact in WI & SD. I’ve had temporary vehicle permits in WI, and have a 4yr disabled vehicle permit in SD. The WI laws are so strict, I only qualify when I’m having the most severe paulsy attacks, but Im elgible lifetime in SD. I only utilize is when I can’t walk and carry. So typically on my SD hunts, that means by day 4 and 5 I might use it.
Its considered wild life harassment in our state for good reason. Big fine for lazy people who can’t use skills to hunt. .

Never ran dogs on deer it’s illegal in Michigan. There’s people that shoot dogs for running deer. It must be the warmth that keeps the deer from moving.
Drop em in their tracks when they are lax. The meat is so much better.
