Crappie Fishing in Lake Okatibbee (Meridian, MS)

We left work on a friday afternoon, and met Kenny Jones on the banks of Okatibbee Reservoir in Meridian, Mississippi to do some crappie fishing. We had the best crappie fishing trip either Matt or myself, (Jeff), have ever had! It was amazing! We caught the majority of our fish on crappie jigs, and slip cork minnow rigs. Towards the end of the trip, Matt hooks into a large fish. At first we thought it was a catfish, but we quickly found out it was a Largemouth Bass, and a really nice sized one at that!
We hope you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed going on the trip and catching that many fish!!

Pitiful example of Mississippi crappie fishing. And you boys can’t even properly recognize the difference in white and black crappie in spawning colors.

Yes, I’m aware of what Sardines are. I just makes sense to let the small crappie grow especially in reservoirs like this. We have seen what happens in the “arc of slabs” when it is managed correctly. Yes, I know there is no slot limit, or size limit…
