Kayaking – Antelope Canyon (Lake Powell)

#antelopecanyon #kayaking #lakepowell

Antelope Canyon is often considered one of the most beautiful slot canyons in the world. But many people don’t realize that the canyon extends into Lake Powell and is one of over ninety canyons you can kayak when visiting Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. All of which means one thing: Lake Powell with more than 2000 miles of shoreline, is one of the Best places to kayak in North America.

Begin by putting in at the Antelope Canyon Marina, then paddle west from the boat ramp and enter the first side canyon on the left. Depending on the water level you can paddle more than three miles up the canyon. Just remember if you want to exit your kayak and hike further to the most popular section of the canyon then you will need both a permit and a guide from the Navajo Nation.

Were you able to paddle all the way from the marina to the canyon or does it require a bigger boat to take the kayaks to the opening of the canyon? Also, do you think beginner/intermediate paddlers would be okay with this?
