Here in Michigan I do quite well. Every year at least one buck ,one doe. That’s just firearm season. Not bow or muzzleloader season.

the reason Pennsylvania I think might be on the worst list is look up all the videos of peoples rants on anti hunting people and actions they do to scare deer ect and the fish and game in Pennsylvania never respond to complaints also the population that hunts with people dying to do stands once again theres a lot of rant videos of hunters rudely walking by and people driving atvs after they have multiple times seen the same person in the stand. I a sadden as I live in Massachusetts and invested to move to Pennsylvania thinking hunting is better there and finding all this out I mistakenly thought Pennsylvania was more liberal with the second amendment and hunting and firearms!!! Researching I am finding out all this bad stuff!!!!!

I live in NWA ( Arkansas). We have several Public land . Madison County. Hardly any turkey. They closed it for turkey hunting . Then you had to buy another permit to have access to hunt it. Bow license is a permit costing $25.00. Then on top of that you had to buy another permit to hunt it. When I buy my license I should not have to buy a permit to hunt any public land. The game and fish gets an additional 32 million each year to do what is needed. They knew 9 years before they closed the place that there was no turkeys left in the place. They bought not one turkey to re stock the place in the 9 years that there was a turkey problem. None the less, they spent 4 million on a place where people can do arts and crafts, and canoe. Then named it after Huckabee, to be political. None of that money was to be used for that before it was to be used to help the hunters of NWA. Then they built another place, and named it after Huckabee’s wife, where they spent at least another 4 million dollars. Mean while we ain’t got any turkeys to hunt. Another where it is a bow hunt only. Has no access but walk in only. At one time it had 4 wheelers that had total access. But 5 or 6 years ago they closed it to 4 wheelers because they were a problem When they did that, they closed all the gates to bow hunters making killing deer there almost impossible. Wedington wildlife area, don’t be fooled. 15, 900 acres there has been closed to bow hunting turkeys there, 20 years for bow hunters . Why shouldn’t archers be allowed to turkey hunt there in season? No bow hunting turkeys there for more than 20 years. What a cruel joke, played on bow hunters here by the game and fish. Ozark national forest hardly any deer there. Our biggest public land here. No turkeys, hardly any deer also.

Michigan bucks die before they get to decent size. Alabama has no trophy bucks. If states aren’t putting out decent trophies they are poorly managed.Alot of states could put out trophies if given the chance.

Wow it’s pretty funny to see so many people get upset over one mans collection of data. He makes solid point and you can tell he has spent a couple of decades researching this. Does that mean he is perfect, no. The butt hurt over my state kills more deer than what he said is pretty funny. Do you enjoy hunting where you live, or do you travel out of state? Oh wait, I don’t give a shit. Just enjoy hunting and pass it along to your kids, or someone’s kid.

Also do not hunt pheasants in Nebraska. they do not have any…. because Nebraska game and parks is AFU and keeps the season open to long..
Texas is a great place to hunt. Hard to beat the bait and wait method. Iv hunted east tx for 20 years and get a nice 8 pt most years. It is getting crowded though. I hunt my own private land near Sulphur Springs and am surrounded by private land owners. I got some new neighbors last year and i think they must have sprayed predator urine at my feeder. At the start of rifle season everything vanished, deer, pigs, squirrels, racoons. I have heavy game traffic all over but not a single track within 40 ft of the feeder. It seems to be happening again this year and I came back up from the stand to a broken windshield 2 weeks ago. I dont know if you have heard of this kind of activity in other places, but this is new for me. Texas has experienced a heavy influx of people from a few other states. Theres more money here than ever so naturally the politics are changing, but the simplisity of just owning a place in the woods is becoming more complicated.
Michigander here. Shot at a 4 point today. Hunting isn’t too great here, but I still love going out and trying.

New Jersey has no limits on doe’s and allows baiting.I thought it would destroy the hunting, but every year seems to be getting better and better. That being said, we don’t need anymore hunters or people for that matter.Lol.

Too many people don’t understand carrying capacity. Every space no matter how large can only carry so much I see it in pastures all the time. If a given pasture can carry 20 cows and the farmer only puts in that many or less the grass is good and there is almost no weeds.It will also stay that way. If he puts in 30 soon the grass is almost gone ruts are every where and lots of weeds start growing . Then he also has to feed the cows. Even if all the cows are removed it can take years for the pasture to recover.Usually the only thing to do is plow it all and start over. In those terms all habitat is just a big pasture. The same rules apply
i enjoy most Deer and Deer Hunting videos, but this one made no sense at all, all his numbers and stats made me Not want to hunt there, i dont want to wrestle 700,000 other hunters for the opportunity to shoot a yearling Buck, what a joke this video was.

Where I hunt in the U.P of Michigan you can drive a half mile and see a couple hundred deer in farm fields

I live in pa 70 yrs and all you see is posted ground every where you go its a rich mans game now I live near Hollidaysburg pa near a state park I haven’t seen a deer taken yet its Tuesday in the first week buck only you can keep your books
This fails to look at the rules in each state for hunting. In Texas (set up a feeder and wait till 7am) I grew up in Iowa who does not allow that. Look at the state with the highest deer vehicle accidents and you can easily find which state has more deer. Michigan hope your dog does not get loose during season, if its brown its down.
Every time I’ve been to fort Knox (just outside of Louisville Ky) I’ve seen more deer than anywhere I’ve been to, although I’ve never hunted in Ky

Sure that’s fact. But in reality the best places to tag big mature bucks is the state you’re living in. Even if it’s the best or worst. You just have to adapt to the system.
Yes we do have some of the best deer hunting in ohio.we got some monsters here for sure.
Ohio is really starting to suck all the rich people are leasing all the land thus basically eliminating the average person for the sport.

I live in new York and it’s getting bad we dont see many bucks we have too many does and our oldest bucks dont get above six were I live and 12 in the southerntier normally not saying they dont but its rare
On the overrated states you said each state had 125,000 hunters, that means 375,000 hunters total. Then Iowa killed 225,000 Kansas 90,000 and Kentucky 225,000 for a total of 540,000 killed. How is it that you messed these totals up so bad when comparing to Michigan? I would say that these three states statistically blew Michigan away! Michigan left hunters with unfilled tags. What am I missing? You swapped hunters for kills in the overrated states when you started the comparison?

Here in Montana, we only shoot deer when we don’t get an Elk.
The WORSE state to hunt deer is…….VERMONT!!! Yes, it really sucks here and the biologist have no clue how to manage the deer population. And they wonder why they have a decline in licenses every year. Because we are ALL going out of state!! Bring back the 80’s when we had more deer and better management.

The reason Michigan sucks to hunt now is that yes we have a ton of public land but its all cut up by trails that people rip around in atvs etc. Not the best environment to bowhunt in…

Everyone and their mother knows that Michigan has the most and biggest whitetail deer on planet Earth. Tons of 12 point bucks here. We don’t shoot em until they get huge here in Michigan. Your stats are WAY off because majority of hunters in Michigan process their own deer so if you think about it we have INSANE amounts of deer here compared to any other state.
NEbraska has cery few deer. Do not hunt there… SC has a boat load of deer… and east of I 95 you can use dogs. which is a hoot…..

We have a lot to be thankful for all over the US and our deer herds are not in last place anywhere you go , I hope I’m not the only guy who is at his knees thanking the good lord and his wonderful friends and neighbors and fellow hunters for this great nation we so reluctantly live in.
I imagine that you guys clicked on this just to see some statistics from around the country just like I did ,so since no one mentioned North Carolina let me tell you the statistics from my state.
We have over a million hunters and what number of deer they tag and call in every year is not even half of what the actual deer kill is , and we have over 700;000 reported every year so that means that people in North Carolina are actually eating over a million deer per year , so if you want to see hamburger at forty dollars a pound , just stop the deer season in North Carolina.
