Behind the Adventure – How to make cool travel videos
Making cool travel videos isn’t always easy. For us it involves carrying a lot equipment around. Stabilization with a glidecam, aerials with a drone and some fancy motorized time-lapse gear are the tools we rely on to capture our adventures.
For more information on how we make our videos check out the accompanying blog that we wrote: http://www.stokedforsaturday.com/2016/01/making-cool-adventure-videos-our-gear-list/
We put together this video because many subscribers requested it. We hope you enjoy it and if you have any specific questions make sure to leave them in the comments below and we will answer 🙂

*Tip #1: get money Tip #2: get nice tripod Tip #3: do a nice tripod shuffle dance to minimize bobbing* great video guys! 🙂
Just had your channel pop up in my YouTube feed – WHERE HAVE YOU TWO BEEN HIDING ALL MY LIFE ? Great video, GREAT channel – thank you so much for making these videos – I’m on a massive binge-watch.
Nice tks bro
I appreciate this is quite an old post, just came across you guys and yes: roger that "Making cool travel videos isn’t always easy.’ even working on a shoestring. Since this is a VERY new venture for us I went for the OSMO Mobile and an old iPhone 6Plus and a SONY ActionCam which gives me ‘options’, plus a MAVIC PRO which is awesome but quite honestly I didn’t use much on our latest 5wk trip to Thailand 🙁 Time will tell, I’m currently in post edit and have a long way to go…!!!
Anyway, the reason for the comment was just to say thx, now I need to go watch some of your other vids to get some tips, thanks again, great work.
Amazing but for me its to expensive😀😀
How do you even begin to learn how to use all this? Pretty soon I’ll be traveling quite a bit so I know I’ll be videoing a lot. I also travel alone usually. But how do I teach myself to use all of this?
So cool. Really enjoyed your video.. Drone footage was dope. Love if you could check out my first travel video and give me a comment.

Hey guys. Looking for a one body one lense setup. Currently using NX300. Don’t laugh it’s paid for. But looking for a significant upgrade. Things I care about. $$, weight, in body stabilization, water resistance. Any suggestions would be great. Just as reference I carry a gopro 5. But want somthing for the really pretty stuff. Thank you!
Amazing adventure. Spectacular landscapes, awesome video. I love to travel with you guys one day ,,lol . that just my dream . Thank you for sharing your video.
Thanks! Cool video!
Excellent footage! The place amazing
Looks like an incredible vlog. Thanks cor sharing. I subbed. Love and supoprt bro from South Korea
Nice video! Love the info
It’s a bit depressing I don’t want to carry so much crap when I go around. I have seen people with a lot less gear getting cool results and with tons of followers, but thanks for the info. It seems like a fulltime job.
Just found you guys thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos!
This is so cool. And useful, so thanks!
I’m new in this video and camera things ,
I have one question ,while making video in drone how did to set camera taking video of your instead of rotating here and there ?
Very enjoyable and revealing! Thank you – I learned something useful today, several things actually.
Amazing job and extremely professional. Amazing what the dslrs are capable of now. If you had to choose a budget camera and mount system for someone new to videography, what would you recommend?
I have a few different cheap camera options including phones, older Sony point and shoot and a cheap 4k action cam, but would love to be able to get some better shots when climbing and hiking.
Where can i buy the monopod you guys used for the go pro? The one that doesnt move even if you move alot?
Very good truly helpful
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! I make videos like your adventure movies.:D We should work together somewhow!? Maybe shoutouts?
Have you switched to an electronic gimbal for your DSLR yet? I imagine it would be so much less weight and space. I’m looking into one. By the way, that orange backpack looks like you could fit a body in it!
Wow for the amount of money you spend on the equipment you can make a world travel. But thanks for the advice and tips.
Just found you guys. Awesome video! I mainly film hunting trips and adventures for youth and military veteran’s, but sure see a whole of things I can do better after watching this one! Thanks for the great video!

Beautiful work guys. Can I tag along with you guys on your next adventure :p
OMg your pronounciation of placenames is terrible, you didn’t take your shoes off before entering a hut (bad etiquette as well-cultured backcountry NZ hut users know that only lazy people and tourists do this), you don’t carry a tent/emergency shelter for injuries or huts being full… And you carry unnecessary weight. I had to be a bit skeptical here haha but know it’s all in fun and games.
I really loved the video, looks super professional, those time lapse and drone footage though! I was wondering what stabiliser I could use for my Gopro? Or which ones I can get myself for both camera and GoPro?
we love going on adventures we have dogs that means more stuff
Great, idea. I’ve learnt from yours a lot.
Buy expensive stuff
Make good video?
Wrong
good job
🔥🔥🔥 owsome
I love this video, I’ve watched it many times and keep coming back to it for inspiration. Please do more like it. And i love the "cross it slow" song. You’re living my dream. Hope to get there some day
Ppap
for non wide angle/ zoom-able stuff, have you considered a high quality point and shoot like the Canon G7X mk2, or the G5X?
Some great tips and info there. Thank you! Greetings from British Columbia!
Thanks for the tips I just got my stabilizer long time ago but i haven’t used it so i have to try it now 🙂
Wiw!! Thankyou so much
